Show your Zermelo information on your narrowcasting screens

In this article you will discover how to connect Zermelo to your narrowcasting displays.

Zermelo Fragments

The “Present Teachers” and “Schedule Changes” are the two available fragments within the CMS.

The Present Teachers Fragment displays teachers who are currently absent and the duration of their absence.
The Schedule Changes Fragment provides an overview of modifications in the class schedule.

Both fragments support customization options such as pagination, colors, logos, and background images, allowing for a personalized user experience.

Domain and Access Token

To retrieve the required data, a domain is required, for example:

https://example.zportal.nl

In addition, a user must be created with an access code (access token) that has the appropriate read permissions (Absences and Schedule Overviews) through the school functions in order to access the required data.

Once the access token and domain are available, you can forward this information to your support contact. Your contact person will link this information to your account.

When creating a Zermelo connection, it is recommended to refer to the following link for detailed instructions and guidance on configuring the connection correctly and securely:

https://support.zermelo.nl/guides/applicatiebeheerder/gebruikers-en-rechtenbeheer-2-volume/gebruikers-en-rechtenbeheer-2/

The fragment is available for landscape screens with a resolution of 1920 × 1080.

Zermelo Absent Teachers

This fragment displays today’s absent teachers and includes the teacher’s abbreviated name and duration of absence.

The duration can be displayed in three ways:

  • If a teacher is absent for a few hours within one day, the from/to time is shown.

  • If a teacher is absent for 8 hours or more within one day, “Absent all day” is displayed.

  • If the absence spans multiple days and the “Show absence until” option is selected when creating the fragment, “until” is followed by the date the teacher will return.

A maximum of 20 absences can be displayed on the screen. If there are more absences, pagination will be used to display them across multiple pages.

Available options for this fragment

  • School Year – Enter the desired school year for the correct school ID

  • School ID – Select the desired location

  • Time per page – Set the duration per page

  • Title – Specify a title for the fragment

  • Show absence until – Display the end date for absences lasting multiple days

  • Show logo – Display the logo on the screen

  • Custom colors – Adjust the colors to your preference

Zermelo Schedule Changes

This fragment displays schedule changes for students.

When creating the fragment, you can specify how many days of changes should be displayed. If there are changes for a particular day, they will appear automatically.

Changes are displayed per lesson hour, spread across two pages covering the first to the eighth hour.

If there are no changes for a specific hour, the message:

“No schedule changes for this hour”

will be displayed.

If there are more changes than can fit on one screen, vertical scrolling will be used to display all changes.

Available options for this fragment

  • School Year – Enter the desired school year

  • School ID – Select the desired location

  • Show X days – Set the number of days to display changes for

  • Time per page – Set the duration per page

  • Time per change – Determine the interval between vertical scrolls when there are multiple changes per hour

  • Substitute teacher – Choose whether substitute and replaced teachers should be displayed as separate blocks

  • Show logo – Display the logo on the screen
