Displaying YouTube Videos on Your Digital Signage Screens

Discover the steps and requirements for showcasing YouTube videos on your Digital Signage screens, enhancing your content with dynamic video content.

With the YouTube widget, you can show videos and playlists on your narrowcasting display.

The YouTube widget works by streaming videos, so the loading speed of the video can be affected by various factors.

These factors include, among others:

  • The speed of your internet connection.
  • The duration of the video being played.
  • The performance of your media player and display.

Within the YouTube widget, there are two available options:

  • Individual video: This allows you to show a specific video.
  • Playlist: This enables you to show a playlist of videos within a specific YouTube channel.

To show a video, you must do the following:

  1. Go to the relevant YouTube video.
  2. Enter the video ID* within the widget.

How to Enable or Disable Embedded Settings on YouTube

The embedded setting on YouTube determines whether others can embed your video on external websites or blogs. This feature is useful if you want to control where your content can appear outside of YouTube.

Follow these steps to configure the embedded settings for your video:

1. Upload Your Video

  • Begin by uploading your video to YouTube. You can adjust the embedded settings either during the upload process or after the video has been uploaded.

2. Access Video Settings

  • Navigate to YouTube Studio.
  • Locate your video under the Content section.
  • Click on the video title or the pencil icon to open the video settings.

3. Configure Sharing Settings

  • In the video details, scroll to the Advanced Settings or More Options section (this may vary depending on your version of YouTube Studio).
  • Look for the option labeled Embed or Allow Embedding.

4. Enable or Disable Embedding

  • Enable Embedding: Turn this option on if you want to allow others to embed your video on their websites. They will be able to copy and paste the embed code provided by YouTube.
  • Disable Embedding: Turn this option off if you want to restrict your video to YouTube only. This prevents users from embedding your video elsewhere.

5. Save Changes

  • After making your adjustments, click the Save button to apply your settings.

Notes:

  • If embedding is disabled, your video can only be viewed directly on YouTube.
  • Changing the embedded settings will not affect any websites that have already embedded the video unless you disable embedding.

By using these steps, you can easily manage where your video is displayed online, maintaining better control over your content.

To show a playlist, you must do the following:

  1. Go to the relevant YouTube channel.
  2. Select the "Playlists" section.
  3. Find the desired playlist and click "View entire playlist".
  4. Enter the playlist ID* within the widget.

*The ID of a video or playlist can be found in the URL after the "=" sign to the end.

For example, in the following URL: "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQaGRgHm4xMxx", the ID is "PQaGRgHm4xMxx".

It is possible that certain videos cannot be shown, this is due to YouTube's copyright policies and channels that do not want their videos to be publicly shown.
