How to create a Screen Takeover?

Learn how to create a Screen Takeover in this article.

With the Screen Takeover, you can interrupt a programmed playlist for a certain period with videos or images. This feature is really handy for menu boards. Please note that this feature is not available by default; contact your contact person if you're interested in activating it.

Steps:
Go to your account and click on Screen Layout on the left side of the menu.

Select Make Screen Layout in the top right and then choose Screen Takeover.

Note! There is no preview available for the Screen Takeover.

Hardware: XMP-8552 / XMP-7500.

Network: Connect the hardware to the internet through a wired connection. Otherwise, we can't guarantee good performance.

Fill in the required fields. Below is an explanation of the fields:

Time between media takeover
This is the time in minutes how often the screen takeover will be triggered. For example, if we have a 10-second video and we set the interval to 1 minute, then after playing the video, it will replay again after 50 seconds.

Show progress bar
It's optional to display a progress bar during or between the screen takeovers.
This progress bar runs from the first to the last set screen. There is now a maximum number of screens set; if you want to use more screens, you can indicate this to Support and then the fields for this can be activated. There is no limit on the number of screens.

Videos need to have the same timing to be able to run in sync.

Setting up Screens & Media
You can choose between a video and an image to display during the screen takeover. Depending on your choice, the relevant fields will appear.

To ensure that the correct video is played on the right screen, we need to define the player ID for the player in their respective input field. Ask Support for the player IDs.

If you want to show 1 video on multiple screens, you need to cut this video into pieces. Here's what you should consider:

For Landscape Mode:
- For 1 screen: 1920x1080 resolution - 1 video for 1 screen: 1920x1080
- For 2 screens: 3840x1080 resolution - 2 videos for 1 screen: 1920x1080
- For 3 screens: 5760x1080 resolution - 3 videos for 1 screen: 1920x1080
- For 4 screens: 7680x1080 resolution - 4 videos for 1 screen: 1920x1080
- For 5 screens: 9600x1080 resolution - 5 videos for 1 screen: 1920x1080

For Portrait Mode:
- For 1 screen: 1080x1920 resolution - 1 video for 1 screen: 1080x1920 (export tilted to the left in 1920x1080)
- For 2 screens: 2160x1920 resolution - 2 videos for 1 screen: 1080x1920 (export tilted to the left in 1920x1080)
- For 3 screens: 3240x1920 resolution - 3 videos for 1 screen: 1080x1920 (export tilted to the left in 1920x1080)
- For 4 screens: 4320x1920 resolution - 4 videos for 1 screen: 1080x1920 (export tilted to the left in 1920x1080)
- For 5 screens: 5400x1920 resolution - 5 videos for 1 screen: 1080x1920 (export tilted to the left in 1920x1080)

After filling in all the fields, click on Next at the bottom. You can now set up the programming for the Takeover for when it should be active. Click Next again to select on which media players/groups it should be active. Sync the relevant hardware to activate it immediately; otherwise, it will be activated starting from the nightly automatic synchronization.
