Checklist Troubleshooting XMP Media Player

This is a checklist for XMP media players

  1. Check Media Player Activity:
    Unplug the power cable, wait 10 seconds, and plug it back in. If the LAN port lights blink, it's active
  2. Check Display:
    Turn the screen off and on with the remote (red button on the remote)
  3. 24-Hour Playlist:
    Go to Programming and check if there is content scheduled for the entire day. If not, adjust the schedule to ensure continuous play. To disable the playlist at certain times, go to Media Players -> Select the media player -> Fill in the On/Off screen settings

Is the power cable connected correctly?

Press the power cable in. This is the cable on the long side of the media player with a round socket. 

  1. Ensure power and HDMI cables are secure.
    Press the video cable in. This is the cable on the long side of the media player with a rectangular socket
  2. Is the screen set to the correct channel (HDMI)?
    Set the display to the correct HDMI input using the remote's input/source button
  3. Is there a playlist active in your account?
    You can see this if you go to ‘overview by media player’ (if main user or subuser) or ‘program playlists’ (if single user) in the menu and there is a bar (playlist) for today. Also, check if there is a time indication in the bar (e.g., 11:00-13:00). This indicates the times during which the playlist is actively playing
  4. Are the time settings configured correctly?
    To be found in your narrowcasting account in the relevant hardware (click on ‘edit’ for the specific hardware). It should be set to ‘always on’ or fall within the current time period."

Network Changes:

Check if there have been any changes to your network. Ask your IT administrator, as they will know if there have been changes to the firewall or IP settings, which could prevent the media player from accessing the network

Do you see old content?

  • Is the network cable properly connected? Press the cables firmly and check if the green and orange lights above the port are showing activity
  • Is the network device/switch on? This is the device between the modem and the hardware that connects multiple devices to the internet. If the LAN ports are showing blinking lights, it is on. Restart it by unplugging the power for 10 seconds and then plugging it back in. Note: There may be other equipment connected to this network device that will also restart
  • Has the media player been restarted? Disconnect the power cable, wait 10 seconds, and then reconnect it. If the lights on the media player start blinking, it is active
  • Has the modem or router been restarted? Unplug the power for 10 seconds and then follow the above steps again
